Havens serves up chick-lit romance with a supernatural twist. Bronwyn is a witch who uses her powers for good--casting spells and reading minds as an undercover agent for the British prime minister. Soon she finds herself working double duty when she is asked to protect a mysterious sheik who is a colleague of the prime minister's. Back home in Sweet, Texas, things are heating up, too. Handsome newcomer Dr. Sam and Bronwyn have instant chemistry, but her work makes it difficult for her to sustain a relationship. Plus, the sexy sheik doesn't seem to mind mixing business with pleasure, and Bronwyn finds his charms tough to resist. From assassination attempts to steamy sex scenes to the summoning of magical powers, Havens covers a lot of ground. Weaving together political intrigue, romance, and fantasy is definitely tricky, but Havens makes it work in this quick-paced, engaging story with unique and likable characters. Aleksandra Kostovski
